My work juxtaposes man and nature. Most of the subject matter of my work deals with elements of nature that have been changed by man. The compositional elements such as trees and plants have been pared down to their basic shapes.
Often my work is in a series, becoming more abstract as the series progresses. Rhythm and sense of motion play a part in many of my compositions.
Dixie Laws is a printmaker and painter. She received her BA in Art from UC Davis, and her MA in Art from California State University, Sacramento. After growing up on the San Francisco Bay Area, she has lived in the Sacramento Area since 1976.
Her work has been shown locally and nationally. She is a member of Axis Gallery and the California Society of Printmakers.
